Trustee and Directorships
Alexandra is actively involved in a number of charities, learned societies and conservation organizations.
She is Vice President of the Board of Directors for Falmouth Heritage Renewal, a Jamaica-based charity which trains citizens in vocation skills and traditional building crafts. The society also works to restore the early 19th century town, which is a Jamaican National Heritage site, for the community.
She is also on the Board of the Center for Palladian Studies in America, the DITC Environmental Education Foundation and the Advisory Board for Sulgrave Manor, George Washington’s ancestral home. She is on the Committee of The Friends of Georgian Society of Jamaica, and former Membership Secretary for ASCHB, the Association for Studies in the Conservation of Historic Buildings. Alexandra is a strong supporter of sustainable design through the use of traditional materials and methods. She was elected to the Green Register and is a member of the Association for Environmentally Conscious Building, The Princes’ Foundation, the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, the Georgian Group, and the Congress for New Urbanism.
Lecturing and Writing
Alexandra has lectured at several educational establishments including the Association for Studies in the Conservation of Historic Buildings, University of Virginia and Georgian Society of Jamaica. She was a visiting tutor for the University of Virginia Preservation Field School.
She recently starred in the documentary film, Palladio, by Magnitudo.
Early in her career, Alexandra was a contributing editor for Dan Cruickshank’s edition of Sir Bannister Fletcher’s A History of Architecture, the first to include 20th century buildings. She has continued to write throughout her career.
